University Advisement Center

New Location, New Advisors

Georgia State University is pleased to announce the opening of the University Advisement Center in suites 1300 and 1400 of the 25 Park Place building (the former SunTrust tower).

This opening represents a significant new resource to help our undergraduate students, as well as a change in the structure of academic advisement on campus. Housing more than 60 academic advisors representing every college and every undergraduate major (plus a cohort of advisors trained to help students select and, when necessary, transition between majors) in one location, the University Advisement Center will serve all freshmen, sophomores and juniors. Seniors will continue to be served by the Office of Academic Assistance in the College of their major.

The opening of the University Advisement Center marks an important step towards accomplishing Goal One of the Georgia State University Strategic Plan. Through President Becker’s leadership, the University has succeeded in reducing the student/advisor ratio on campus from over 700-to-1 in 2011 to the nationally recommended average of 300-to-1 today. The University Advisement Center and our new campus-wide advisement tracking system represent the next phase in this progress.
